Monitoring and Calculating Linux server load average in Linux?
Load average is tha average on system load calculated over a time period of 1, 5 and 15 minutes. The load average is equal to runnable system process and uninterpretable states.
For single-CPU systems that are CPU bound, one can think of load average as a percentage of the system utilization during the respective time period. For systems with multiple CPUs, one must divide the number by the number by the number of the processors in order to get a comparable percentage.
