  • Using Multiple Instances of Tomcat On CentOS

Apache Tomcat is a open source web server for Java application created by Apache Foundation. Main usage of Tomcat is to deploy Java Servlet and JSP applications. For more details you can visit apache official site http://tomcat.apache.org/

In the last post How to Install Tomcat 7.0.82 on CentOS 7? we have seen how we can install and configure Tomcat on CentOS ?

But it might happen that we need to have more than one instance of Tomcat running on the same server in order to divide the application load.
Now we will see steps for installing multiple instances of Tomcat.
Basically having multiple instances means having Tomcat in more than one directories and having different port numbers for each instance.
Let's see how we can do that.

Here we will have /opt/tomcat1 for Tomcat 7.0.82 and /opt/tomcat2 for Tomcat 8.0.47

    Step 1 :

Download Tomcat 7.0.82 using following command

    <p>#wget http://www-us.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-7/v7.0.82/bin/apache-tomcat-7.0.82.tar.gz</p>
